Makeup is a tool. This session is about learning the basics of those tools and how they work together to accomplish a certain goal. The class will cover what makeup is and what makeup isn’t and will take time to learn each component for basic everyday makeup. The objective is to understand and experiment with each type of tool and to have time and space to work on the basic skill of application while thinking about how such a tool can help with personal and theatrical goals. The class is appropriate for all ages and as even one with makeup experience can benefit from the slowing down and focus that will be implied with this class.
Each participant is required to have their own supplies. Sharing is not recommended except between family members. Supplies can be purchased individually or can be purchased by Two Shoes. Supplies do not have to be purchased all at once unless they are purchased through Two Shoes. Please use supply list link above to make sure you have what is needed. For a younger student, simple tools are recommended as they will not use them frequently and will need to replace them before usage is increased. It is important for them to use the actual makeup tools to increase their skill and precision. Just as one would use a sippy cup to teach a toddler to learn, the correct tools will help the young artist learn appropriate skills. If you have any questions regarding the supplies, please contact us.
Each class will be limited to 5 students to help with current health recommendations. No masks will be required of students, as each makeup station will be physically placed at least six feet apart as a nice makeup room would be in a theatre.
This is an opportunity to learn without the pressure of a performance or deadline. We invite you to take this opportunity while you can. It is a skill that will increase a performer's value as well as their continued life journey. This class will lead into other makeup classes where these fundamental skills will be expected.
